The most frequent mistake I see people make when considering bankruptcy is waiting too long.
If you are considering filing for bankruptcy, file your bankruptcy sooner rather than later. Some of the behaviors people use to avoid bankruptcy cause serious problems when the person finally admits that they need help. If you find you are
- living on credit cards
- kiting checks to pay for necessities
- avoiding phone calls because you know it’s just another collector
then you should seriously consider filing for bankruptcy soon.
If you find your debt is becoming overwhelming, please give us a call. There are several ways my office can help. Please don’t wait too long.
Remember – no matter how deep in debt you find yourself, there is always someone who has it worse. I can assure you that Mr. Jérôme Kerviel has it worse than you do.
Jerome is a rather infamous rogue trader who racked up $6.3 billion dollars in debt by making fraudulent stock future trades.
I think I’ll keep this link handy for those times when I feel a little down from analyzing my own student loan debt. If bankruptcy is something you are considering, I can probably help. Just don’t wait until you’re 6 billion in debt!
